Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Philippines is recruiting on behalf of a leading last-mile technology logistics company in the country.

Company wishes to bring on board a senior Legal Counsel to lead and develop its award-winning Philippines legal team and provide strategic commercial and legal advice to country and group management.
To be successful, the candidate should be a commercially savvy and self-motivated individual, who can operate independently in a fast-paced work environment and manage and drive 4 other team members to deliver high quality legal deliverables. He or she will report to the Group General Counsel based in Singapore and work closely with Filipino senior leadership. Pro-activeness, 'can-do' attitude and strong stakeholder communication and management skills are essential to the role's success.

Job Descriptions

  • Candidate's primary role includes:
    • Function head responsible for managing legal and regulatory matters in Philippines.
    • Lead and develop legal team to deliver high quality legal services in a fast-paced environment and ensuring that legal advice is commercially-savvy and legally defensible.
    • Designing and implementing country-level legal processes, policies and training relating to contract process compliance and mitigation of legal and regulatory risks.
    • Advising on, negotiating and preparing commercial contracts, supplier contracts and tender bid response.
    • Handle corporate secretarial matters and manage the procurement and renewal of all necessary business, corporate and other licences and permits.
    • Manage HR-related disputes, disputes with shippers and commercial litigation.
    • Handle inquiries and investigations by various government agencies.
    • Handle administration of and manage legal department in a manner consistent with country-level and group-level policies.
  • Candidate reports to Group General Counsel but will be accountable to and be tasked by company's Country Head.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Laws in Philippines laws from a leading university.
  • 10 years or more experience from a legal department of a company and reputable law firm.
  • Philippines Bar admission.
  • Having these attributes would give the candidate an advantage:
    • Experience working in the logistics or e-commerce industry or any other reputable startup.
    • Knowledge about IT systems, cloud hosting and SaaS.
    • Literacy in financial statements and metrics.
