They are seeking a Senior Analyst - Underwriting and Portfolio Performance (Remote). This role is responsible for underwriting credit applications, analyzing portfolio performance, identifying risks, and recommending strategic actions to optimize loan performance. The position offers a work-from-home arrangement.

About the Role:
As a Senior Analyst in Underwriting and Portfolio Performance, you will play a key role in driving the financial success of our lending portfolio. You will be responsible for underwriting credit applications, analyzing portfolio performance, identifying risks, and recommending strategic actions to optimize our loan performance. This role will focus heavily on data-driven insights to improve our risk management strategies, with particular emphasis on consumer loan products in the Australian market.

Key Job Responsibilities:
Underwriting and Credit Risk Assessment:

  • Conduct thorough credit risk assessments for consumer loan applications across SACC, MACC, and LACC products.
  • Analyze borrower profiles, including income, credit history, and other financial indicators to determine creditworthiness.
  • Ensure compliance with Australian regulatory standards and lending guidelines.
  • Use financial models and risk scoring systems to make data-driven decisions in the underwriting process.

Portfolio Performance Analysis:

  • Track, monitor, and report on the performance of the loan portfolio, identifying trends, patterns, and potential risks.
  • Analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) such as default rates, delinquency trends, prepayment behavior, and profitability.
  • Conduct stress testing and scenario analysis to assess the potential impact of external economic factors on portfolio performance.
  • Collaborate with the data analytics and finance teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness of reporting.

Risk Management and Strategy Development:

  • Identify emerging risks in the lending portfolio and recommend actions to mitigate potential losses.
  • Develop strategies to improve loan approval processes while balancing risk and reward.
  • Provide insights into borrower behavior and recommend enhancements to credit policy based on empirical data.
  • Work closely with the risk and compliance teams to ensure that underwriting practices align with company policies and regulatory standards.

Process Improvement and Automation:

  • Leverage technology and data analytics to streamline underwriting and reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with IT and data science teams to improve the efficiency of underwriting systems and portfolio monitoring tools.
  • Identify opportunities for automation in credit decision-making and reporting functions to reduce manual intervention and improve turnaround times.

Stakeholder Management:

  • Act as a subject matter expert on SACC, MACC, and LACC lending products, providing insights and advice to senior management.
  • Liaise with internal teams, including finance, compliance, and data analytics, to ensure a holistic approach to risk management and portfolio performance.
  • Prepare and present reports and recommendations to senior leadership on portfolio health and risk management strategies.


Key Job Qualifications:
Experience

  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in credit underwriting, risk analysis, and portfolio management, preferably in consumer lending.
  • Strong understanding of SACC, MACC, and LACC lending products in the Australian financial landscape.
  • Proven experience in analyzing loan portfolios, managing credit risk, and developing risk mitigation strategies.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in data analysis tools such as SQL, Excel, or other analytics platforms.
  • Experience with financial modeling, risk scoring systems, and underwriting software.
  • Familiarity with Australian credit and consumer lending regulations.

Analytical Mindset:

  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data sets and translate insights into actionable recommendations.
  • Experience in conducting stress testing and scenario analysis.

Communication Skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex information clearly to senior management.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams in a remote environment.
