Assistant Area Manager

Monroe Consulting Group is an executive search firm recruiting on behalf of a leading fashion distribution and retail company. Our client is seeking a highly skilled Assistant Area Manager to join their team. This role operates under a hybrid work setup, with the office based in Makati, Metro Manila.

Overview:
Reporting to the Senior Area Manager, the Assistant Area Manager will oversee and ensure the success of multiple stores within an assigned territory (8-20 stores). This role focuses on optimizing operational performance, driving sales, and minimizing costs.

Duties and Responsibilities

Store Operations

  • Manage staffing concerns, including interviewing and recruitment of potential staff.
  • Oversee and evaluate store staff performance through coaching, counseling, and appraising job results.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards, customer service excellence, and health and safety protocols through proper training initiatives.
  • Regularly tour store locations to address colleague and customer concerns and resolve urgent operational issues.
  • Coordinate training support for staff on product knowledge and stock management, in alignment with the Training Department.
  • Respond promptly to customer complaints and comments.
  • Establish and enforce operational, sales, and personnel policies to maintain efficient operations.
  • Identify and implement business improvements, such as adjusting store hours to enhance competitiveness in the local market.
  • Maintain awareness of retail trends, customer preferences, and competitor activities to guide store strategies.

Sales Management

  • Review and analyze sales data, operational efficiency, store profitability, and market trends to create actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor sales figures, forecast future sales volumes, and develop strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Achieve financial objectives by preparing annual budgets, monitoring expenses, analyzing variances, and initiating corrective measures.
  • Prepare and present detailed weekly and monthly sales reports by store and product category.
  • Oversee sales operations, ensure targets are met, and manage sales teams within assigned accounts.
  • Develop and implement creative sales strategies tailored to the territory and set targets for the sales team.
  • Provide insights and feedback to improve store performance.

Product Management

  • Collaborate with the Merchandising team to manage stock levels and optimize merchandise performance across stores.
  • Assist in visual merchandising and monitor stock replenishment.
  • Address inventory issues by coordinating with Supply Chain, Merchandising, and Warehouse teams.
  • Gather and report customer and market feedback to relevant departments.

Marketing Support

  • Implement marketing campaigns, sales strategies, and other company initiatives across assigned stores.

Human Resource Management

  • Engage, develop, and motivate team members to maximize individual and team potential.
  • Forecast staffing needs and develop recruitment strategies to maintain optimal workforce levels.
  • Manage team performance through coaching, counseling, and performance evaluations.
  • Provide training and development opportunities to address technical and behavioral skill gaps.
  • Conduct additional activities as required to support team and organizational objectives.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Planning: Forecast needs, prepare plans and budgets, and develop streamlined policies and procedures.
  • Organizing: Ensure coordination across teams through effective structure and regular communication.
  • Leading: Foster a high-performing team aligned with the organization's vision and core values through rational decision-making, coaching, and employee recognition.
  • Managing: Set performance goals, measure results, and implement improvement plans.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Studies, Administration, Marketing, or a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in retail store operations.
  • Strong sales and negotiation skills with a keen business sense.
  • Proven ability to motivate and lead teams effectively.
  • Strong initiative, enthusiasm, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to perform under pressure and manage competing priorities.
