Position Summary
- We are seeking a highly experienced SAP Data Architect to lead the strategic development and implementation of enterprise-wide data architecture initiatives. This role will drive the evolution of data and analytics platforms to enable new capabilities and enhance existing systems. The ideal candidate will work in close collaboration with product management, governance, and engineering teams to deliver scalable, high-performing, and secure data solutions aligned with business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive Data Architecture vision across all Data & Analytics components, including both baseline and target states.
- Collaborate on the design and delivery of data and analytics products, ensuring adherence to architectural standards, best practices, and frameworks.
- Lead the design and implementation of enterprise data architecture to support both current and future analytical and operational needs.
- Own and manage enterprise-wide data lineage, ensuring traceability from source to target and the ability to drill down into details when necessary.
- Build a holistic roadmap for data architecture transformation, consolidating requirements across various business initiatives.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to Data Solution Architects and Data Engineers, ensuring alignment with data architecture and governance policies.
- Assist in team capability planning to support evolving architectural needs and resourcing decisions.
- Serve as a key stakeholder and trusted advisor for new data and analytics initiatives, ensuring alignment with enterprise data strategy.
- Promote standardized data practices and continuous innovation, creating an environment that values optimization and forward-thinking design.
- Define and maintain data architecture principles, standards, data services, analytical tools, and frameworks.
- Design and implement data migration strategies and approaches for complex systems.
- Provide data architecture expertise throughout project delivery lifecycles, collaborating with product managers and solution architects.
- Work closely with enterprise application teams, stakeholders, and external partners to manage data architecture dependencies and timelines.
- Offer architectural support to operations and project teams to ensure scalable and reliable solutions.
- Lead data solution design efforts, integrating with enterprise data governance processes.
- Develop reusable templates and artifacts to streamline data architecture deliverables across projects.
- Continuously evaluate new technologies, tools, and design patterns to build sustainable big data and cloud platforms.
- Define key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness and success of data architecture initiatives.
- Ensure alignment of architecture strategies across the enterprise through effective decision-making and coordination.
- Deliver and maintain essential architecture documentation, including:
- Baseline and target state data architectures
- Catalogs of data sources and systems
- Data architecture design documents
- Standards, guidelines, and principles
- System-wide data lineage
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in data and analytics, preferably within manufacturing, engineering, or supply chain industries.
- 5-7 years of experience in data modeling, data pipeline design, and data engineering roles.
- TOGAF certification (or equivalent framework certification) is strongly preferred.
- In-depth understanding of data architecture, data integration, and analytics best practices.
- Proven knowledge of data governance, privacy, compliance, and security frameworks in an enterprise context.
- Strong expertise in data lakes, data warehouses, lakehouse architectures, and SQL.
- Experience with data ingestion techniques, logical and physical data modeling, and solution design.
- Hands-on experience with Azure, Databricks, and on-premises solutions (e.g., Microsoft BI Suite).
- Familiarity with ERP systems and data domains in manufacturing and supply chain is highly desirable.
- Excellent analytical, leadership, and communication skills, with a structured and strategic mindset.
