Senior Systems Administrator - Backup Management

Responsibilities

  • Possess deep knowledge and expertise in backup solutions.
  • Configure, monitor, administer, and maintain the backup environment, including backup servers, backup storage, tape drives, cloud storage, network configuration, tapes, and clients.
  • Configure backup solutions on requested servers.
  • Perform standard and test restores of requested files, folders, databases, and virtual machines.
  • Manage backup media (tape) operations, including offsite storage, tape rotation, and handling.
  • Conduct disaster recovery tests to ensure backup reliability.
  • Administer Windows and Unix operating systems.
  • Utilize Bash, Shell, and/or PowerShell scripting for automation and troubleshooting.
  • Report department KPIs to top management.
  • Represent the Backup & Restore team in cross-departmental projects.
  • Create and update documentation, actively contributing to the team's knowledge base.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve all backup-related issues.
  • Ensure performance aligns with agreed procedures, SLAs, and customer expectations.
  • Comply with internal regulations, procedures, legal requirements, and other regulatory standards.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology or equivalent experience in Business, Technology, or related fields.
  • 5+ years of experience managing technical storage and/or backup systems.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience, with proven ability to successfully lead and oversee critical IT compliance programs.
  • 5+ years of experience leading a technical storage and/or backup team.
  • Expertise in Windows Server, Cloud platforms (Google Cloud & Azure), VMWare, and databases.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate with other teams to ensure effective delivery of Storage and Backup solutions.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of industry standards and practices, with a forward-thinking approach to new and innovative technologies.
  • Proven track record of consistent growth in technical and leadership skills.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization abilities.
