Deputy Business Development (Retail)

Job Summary:

Executive recruitment company Monroe Consulting Group Indonesia is recruiting on behalf of a Multinational retail company for the role of Head of Expansion Retail. As the Head of Expansion Retail, you will play a pivotal role in the company's growth strategy by driving the development of new retail locations, forging strategic partnerships with real estate developers, and ensuring seamless execution of expansion projects. This is a senior leadership position where you will be responsible for managing a team, overseeing expansion activities, and securing long-term growth for the brand. This position will be based in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and execute the retail expansion strategy for the business across Indonesia.
  • Identify and evaluate new retail site opportunities, ensuring alignment with business objectives and customer demographics.
  • Manage the end-to-end process of site acquisition, including negotiations with property owners, landlords, and developers.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key real estate partners, including malls, commercial buildings, and retail properties.
  • Collaborate closely with the senior leadership team to align expansion plans with the overall business strategy.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer insights to make informed decisions about potential retail sites.
  • Oversee the legal and financial aspects of the retail site leasing and development process.
  • Lead a cross-functional team, including legal, design, construction, and operations, to ensure successful project delivery on time and within budget.
  • Manage the retail expansion budget and ensure the optimization of costs.

Key Requirements:

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in retail expansion, real estate development, or a related field, with a proven track record of successfully expanding retail businesses in Indonesia.
  • Strong expertise in real estate expansion, including experience in negotiating lease agreements, site selection, and managing relationships with property owners, landlords, and developers.
  • In-depth knowledge of the retail market in Indonesia, including regional and national trends, and competitor activities.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage a cross-functional team and drive results.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Experience in managing large-scale projects with multiple stakeholders, ensuring timely and cost-effective execution.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with a focus on results.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Real Estate, Engineering, or related field (Master's degree is a plus).
  • Fluent in both Bahasa Indonesia and English.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in working with high-profile real estate developers or key commercial properties in Indonesia.
  • Proven experience in retail or franchising models.
  • Understanding of financial and operational metrics related to real estate and retail expansion.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills to assess market potential and risks.
