More than 70 executive recruitment consultants from Monroe Consulting Group’s offices throughout Asia were thanked for a successful 2018 with a rewards weekend at the five-star Desa Visesa Ubud in Bali.
The consultants and managing directors were flown in from China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines and Indonesia on a Friday that featured an outdoor gala dinner in rice paddy fields, complete with sumptuous food, Balinese dancers and an open bar featuring cocktails specially created for the evening.
Saturday featured a fun-filled day of tubing and quad biking followed by a second, more formal fine-dining gala dinner.
Monroe Consulting Group Managing Director Andrew Hairs said the annual rewards weekend was to recognise the efforts of Monroe’s highly professional executive recruitment consultants who had contributed to the ongoing success of the company.
“Right across the board, all six offices in Asia and our offices in Chile and Mexico, have continued to perform above expectation, which again last year was recognised by our peers in the executive recruitment industry.”
Monroe Consulting Group was named Best Small Recruitment Business for the Asia-Pacific at the Global Recruiter Asia-Pacific Awards 2018 in Singapore. It is the fourth time Monroe has been bestowed the prestigious award since the inaugural awards in 2013.
Former Monroe Malaysia Managing Director Monica Viladot, who has taken over the managing director job with Monroe Philippines, said Kuala Lumpur-based Monroe Malaysia had gone from strength to strength and was one of the country’s leading executive recruitment companies.
Monroe Malaysia won four prestigious awards at the Asia Recruitment Awards 2018 Malaysia, including Gold for ‘Best Candidate Experience by a Recruitment Solution Provider’ and Silver for ‘Recruitment Agency of the Year.’
Monroe was also awarded Silver awards for ‘Best Client Experience by a Recruitment Solution Provider’ and ‘Best New Recruitment Agency,’ a category in which the company won Gold in both 2017 and 2016.
Monroe Thailand Managing Director John Tolmie, who also oversees operations in Vietnam, said the rewards weekends were also intended to encourage communication between offices.
“Yes, it is a wonderful getaway but it is a great opportunity for our consultants to meet colleagues, often for the first time, forge or enhance friendships and share information about their jobs,” Mr Tolmie said.
Monroe Indonesia Managing Director James Palin said highlights included the school-themed dinner on the Friday night, which was a great opportunity to take some great group photos.
“The dress-up fancy dinner at the end also was great with some nice photos and the team shot outside the reception area was incredible,” Mr Palin said.
“There were lots of fresh ideas and wonderful opportunity to meet the other offices helped inspire our executive recruitment consultants, and overall it was seen as a big success from the office here.”
Monroe China Managing Director Kelly Liu said the weekend encapsulated the message that working for Monroe was fun and doing an important job that had a positive impact on people's lives.
"Last year it was Thailand, the year before that Malaysia, this year it was Bali. Our consultants had such a great time, made new friends and are already speculating about where next year's event will be held. I hope it is China. I would love to show our consultants from throughout Southeast Asia our wonderful culture."
