MEP Project Manager (Data Centres)

Monroe Consulting Group Philippines, an executive recruitment firm, is hiring on behalf of an engineering consultancy specializing in MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing), 3D modeling, architectural production, and infrastructure services. They are seeking a MEP Project Manager with over 5 years of experience in the field, particularly in designing and managing data center projects. This role offers a hybrid work arrangement.

Job Overview:

The MEP Project Manager will oversee the day-to-day operations of data center projects, reporting to the MEP Manager and receiving technical guidance from the Technical Director and the offshore client. This role involves leading the design team based in Manila, coordinating with local consultants, and ensuring project success from design to execution.

Key Responsibilities:

Design & Technical Responsibilities
:

  • Define project Owner's Requirements.
  • Collaborate with architects, structural engineers, interior designers, and other consultants to establish design concepts.
  • Work closely with the Technical Director and MEP Manager to validate design directions and ensure alignment with Forsspac standards for cost control and efficiency.
  • Manage design development from schematics to For Construction documentation.
  • Ensure designs are executed in 3D Revit, minimizing back-and-forth revisions.
  • Prepare permit documentation with appropriate signoffs from Registered Professionals.
  • Maintain technical and performance-based specifications for all trades.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable local, international, and project-specific codes and standards.
  • Adhere to environmental legislation and green building council requirements.
  • Represent company on relevant trade bodies.

Planning:

  • Develop and update design production plans aligned with client expectations.
  • Plan required human, physical, and software resources.

Management

  • Manage staff using matrix management principles, ensuring project leaders are assigned as necessary.
  • Ensure departmental timing programs (Gantt chart style) for each project are created using critical path methodology.
  • Review staff allocation matrices and timing plans weekly, making updates as needed, including reviewing S-Curves and determining necessary actions.
  • Ensure all staff are aware of and follow the allocation matrices and timing plans.
  • Report in line with the company's Monthly Reporting Cycle.
  • Oversee the preparation of progress reports to support invoicing, adhering to deadlines in the Monthly Reporting Cycle or as directed by the Commercial function.
  • Prepare manpower plans that cover cost of sales, invoice projections, and actual outcomes, in line with the Monthly Reporting Cycle.
  • Ensure staff comply with employment terms, and invoke disciplinary procedures when necessary.
  • Prepare regular progress reports for the MEP Manager or Technical Director.
  • Attend internal management and customer meetings as required for project delivery and relationship-building.
  • Continuously evaluate the performance of engineering staff, taking appropriate actions where necessary.
  • Make recommendations on promotions, demotions, salary adjustments, and disciplinary actions for direct reports, using existing HR procedures and policies.
  • Plan and manage training for the Engineering Team and oversee ongoing performance improvement.
  • Step in to perform duties of absent staff to meet departmental deadlines.
  • Provide support to the MEP Manager and Technical Director as needed.
  • Undertake any other reasonable requests or tasks made by company officers.

ISO 9001 Compliance:

  • Ensure full implementation of ISO9001:2015 requirements through departmental procedures.
  • Ensure work is carried out in compliance with technical procedures, method statements, guidelines, work instructions, and memoranda.
  • Verify and review all deliverables before transmission to the client (Verification, Validation, Sign-off).
  • Implement ISO9001:2015 management review requirements through monthly departmental meetings.
  • Ensure that OTPs and KPIs are established and reviewed monthly.
  • Prepare or oversee the preparation of technical procedures, guidelines, and work instructions for departmental tasks.

Key Job requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering; preferably a licensed Professional Mechanical or Electrical Engineer.
  • 10+ years of progressive work experience, with at least 5 years in a design or consulting firm, and 3-5 years in MEP design/services coordination in a construction firm.
  • 5+ years of experience working on data center projects.
  • Expertise in MEPF (Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing, and Fire) service and systems design.
  • Strong knowledge of international and local electrical and building codes.
  • Proficiency in Revit is a significant advantage.
